Systems and platforms I have built or led across startups and enterprises.

Loopla

Led the end-to-end engineering transformation of Loopla from a monolithic system into a distributed microservices platform on GCP. Architected and delivered a booking engine supporting 100+ checkout flows, unlocking a new financial revenue stream. Reduced infrastructure costs by approximately 300% through cloud-native resource optimisation and autoscaling. Increased platform performance by almost 400% and significantly improved stability through architectural redesign, security hardening, and load testing. Implemented fully automated infrastructure as code using Terraform with built-in disaster recovery and automatic failover. Accelerated deployment cycles from days to minutes via CI/CD pipelines, with rollback capabilities and zero-downtime releases. Introduced end-to-end test suites and deployment automations that eliminated manual intervention across the release process.

Blavatnik Archive

Served as Engineering Team Lead and highest contributor on this globally acclaimed digital archive platform for the Blavatnik Archive Foundation, New York. Designed and delivered a scalable enterprise CMS, distributed microservices architecture, and three in-house built systems: a Lambda-triggered image processing pipeline with automated reprocessing, cron-based failure recovery, and S3 mounting for high-resolution images; a custom image server handling multi-source delivery (file system, remote servers, database BLOBs, AWS S3), caching, authentication, resolution enforcement, and image transformations; and a deep zoom viewer with tile-based asynchronous loading, manifest-driven resolution control, and real-time collaborative annotation support. Built full-text search across 10,000+ archival records with Elasticsearch. The innovative image processing solution introduced a groundbreaking, industry-leading approach that gave the company a competitive edge, attracted 4 new clients, and prompted plans to productise the image server as a standalone offering. Received personal endorsement from Creative Director Aaron Kreiswirth citing transformative organisational impact. The platform received two prestigious NEH grants totalling over $397,000.

Refuseniks & Activists

Built directly off the success and architectural foundation of the Blavatnik Archive, which had established itself as a leader in the digital archiving industry. The same proven distributed systems, including the Lambda-triggered image processing pipeline, custom image server, deep zoom viewer, and enterprise CMS, were adapted and deployed with custom requirements tailored to this collection. Preserves primary source collections documenting Soviet Jewish migration during the Cold War, featuring browsable collections (Natan Sharansky Archive, NCSJ Records, Russia Reports Radio Series), IIIF-powered deep zoom image viewing, full-text search, community story submissions, and educational articles drawn from the archival materials.

NCBA CLUSA

Served as Engineering Team Lead and highest contributor across the NCBA CLUSA engagement. Delivered a suite of mission-critical internal financial and operational systems for this global cooperative development organisation operating across multiple countries. Built and shipped a Budget Management System, Employee Management platform, Payroll and Timesheet Reconciliation system, and Financial Reporting tools, all handling sensitive data at scale with high accuracy and security requirements. Systems are actively used by distributed international teams across multiple countries for day-to-day financial operations. The first project was delivered on time and exceeded client expectations, leading directly to further system expansions and contributing to an approximate 30% increase in company revenue through repeat business and new project acquisitions.

Gun Shooter Strike: FPS Game

Co-founded FANGENT and led end-to-end architecture and delivery of its first FPS title. Designed and implemented adaptive enemy AI with real-time decision-making and predictive behavioural analysis, integrating A* pathfinding, Dynamic Navigation Meshes, Hierarchical Pathfinding (HPA), Jump Point Search (JPS), and Boid-based flocking for realistic multi-agent coordination. Built physics-based gameplay including destructible environments via fragmentation algorithms, accurate bullet trajectory simulation with gravity and air resistance, ragdoll physics, and hitbox detection. Optimised performance through asset streaming, reducing memory usage by 60%, and dynamic resolution scaling, improving frame rates by 35% on mid-range devices with consistent 60 FPS on high-end hardware. The game surpassed 500,000 downloads with reusable AI and rendering components continuing to underpin FANGENT's entire game development pipeline.

Glitter Color By Number

Co-founded FANGENT and served as CTO, leading development of this globally distributed casual gaming app. Designed and implemented an automated content creation pipeline using image segmentation and numbering algorithms, cutting manual production time by over 90% and scaling output from a few images per week to hundreds. Introduced a remote image hosting architecture that reduced app size to under 50 MB while enabling seamless content delivery without frequent updates. Leveraged deep knowledge of ad ecosystems, real-time bidding (RTB), and Google AdMob optimisation to drive a ~300% uplift in ad revenue and in-app purchases across 10,000+ downloads.
